Course Overview PSFD

The Fashion Design course endeavours to create a new generation of creative and highly skilled designers and entrepreneurs who are able understand the demands of the local and international markets.

The program focuses on developing skills, progress of individual creativity, learning about trends & forecast and exploring new  methods & techniques of creating fashion design.

The subjects taught are combination of both theoretical and practical in order to develop original thoughts and fully expand an initial concept by constant research and experimentation to a three-dimensional garment form.

To enhance their knowledge of apparel textile industry applications Gerber Garment TechnologY (GGT,CAD, CAM) is taught at Level 3. All sewing labs are equipped with Industrial machines and related equipments.

Students securing high grades are sent for training at the end of Semester VI to affiliate school in Paris at Ecole de La Chambre Syndicale de La Couture Parisienne,PIFD faculty members accompany students. In Paris, they are engaged in intensive training of Fashion design and Draping project conducted by senior faculty of Ecole de La Chambre Syndicale de La Couture. Certificates are awarded after successful completion of training. Trade & designer fashion shows and exhibition visits are alo arranged to gain exposure during Paris trip.

Students are also encouraged to participate In  National / International competitions and exhibitions. Internship is compulsory after semester VII , students are placed with the designers and the industry to gain work experience.

Basic theory and design studio subjects are taught in Foundation year to all the students enrolled, after which they pursue their choice of major. All programmes are semester-based with two semesters each year for the duration of four years.
