Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design is unrivalled in Pakistan when it comes to the international exposure it provides to its students. The students of programmes, currently offered at PIFD, go abroad on exchange programmes in the third year of their education.
From the Department of Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, students with faculty attended training at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) New York in summer of 2012.
Since 2003 PIFD has been sending students of the Department of Fashion Design to Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Paris, France. In 2012 students from 3rd Year accompanied by faculty went to Paris for a two weeks training.
Students from Textile Design, Fashion Design and College of Fashion Design Islamabad, visited London College of Fashion, UK, for a two weeks training on "Collection Management" in 2013.
The Department of Furniture Design and Manufacture sent students and faculty for an educational and cultural study visit to the UK in 2012. They attended the "London Design Festival" and a workshop at Bucks New University, Buckinghamshire.
From the Department of Jewellery Design and Gemological Sciences, students and faculty visited the Jaipur Jewellery show in India in 2012. They also attended a one week training workshop on "Kundan Meena" at the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewelry (IIGJ) Delhi.
International Fashion Showcase London is scheduled in the month of February every year by the British Council UK and British Fashion Council. PIFD organized a fashion exhibition in London to represent Pakistan. The Course Coordinator of the Department of Fashion Design along with 4 graduates of PIFD participated in February 2013. The 4 emerging designers, Mr. Akif Mahmood, Mr. Mohsin Ali, Ms. Zonia Anwaar and Mr. Irfan Ali presented their collection at the exhibition. A saloon show was presented on the opening day followed by an exhibition and a closing show on the last day, which was highly appreciated by attendees including businessmen, politicians and designers based in UK.
Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) is the world's largest and premier showcase of fashion graduates held in London UK, and is visited by 25,000 guests including top international media talent scouts and recruiters. The judging panel is headed by Sara Maino, Senior Fashion Editor Vogue Italia. Mr. Hammad Sohail Sadiq, of PIFD’s graduating batch 2013, from Fashion Design, was selected to showcase his collection "The Four Corners – Road to Enlightenment". PIFD is the only institute from Pakistan to represent Pakistan at the GFW for the first time in 2013.
