The Foundation Year introduces students to the study of design both in theory and practice. The course includes a broad spectrum of skills which enable the students to identify with design tools and processes, materials to develop suitable design ideas. The core feature of this programme offers an exciting opportunity to experiment, investigate, explore and evaluate. The course provides an integral base for students to pursue their major degree in any of the four schools of the institute. The teaching methodology allows students to understand design through lectures, seminars, hands-on studio interaction, market research, group studies and projects. Module titles â– Basic Drawing â– Shaping of 2D Design â– Material and Models â– Digital Communication â– History of Art and Culture â– Design History and Theory â– English â– Pakistan Studies/lslamiat Generic Learning Outcomes By the end of Foundation Year the students will attain appropriate level of skills and creativity in the use of basic elements of design, materials and hand tools. They will be able to identify important elements of a problem, justify their work convincingly, and evaluate their performance. Working as a team, students are required to define problems, analyse, and devise solutions by the end of the course. |
