The Second Meeting of the Senate of Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design was held on Thursday, 16th May 2013 at 6:00 pm in the Board Room of PIFD, Lahore. The following members attended the meeting:

Mr. Maqbool H.H Rahimtoola Federal Minister Commerce presided over the meeting in his capacity as Pro-Chancellor / Deputy Chairperson.
The meeting started with the recitation of few verses from the Holy Quran.
Prof. Hina Tayyaba Secretary of the Senate welcomed the members.
In her opening remarks she informed that for the first time in the history of PIFD, 135 students of six departments namely: Fashion Design, Furniture Design & Manufacturing, Textile Design, Fashion Marketing & Merchandizing, Leather Accessories and Foot Wear, Jewellery & Gemological Sciences are displaying their works from 25th May to 2nd June 2013. Graduation Show is also scheduled for 2nd June 2013.

The agenda items regarding Financial, Administrative and Academic matters of PIFD main campus as well as six Constituent Colleges at Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Hala, Faisalabad and Multan were discussed. The decisions taken during two meetings of Special Committee of Senate, six meetings of Academic Council and Syndicate, three meetings of Finance and Planning Committee and Financial Assistance Committee, thirteen meetings of Selection Board, were reviewed and actions taken accordingly were endorsed by the Senate. Amendment in the Service Statutes, Contract Appointment Statutes, Efficiency and Discipline Statutes and Leave Rules were also approved.

The Senate granted approval for Budget 2013-14 for the main Campus, Lahore and Six Constituent Colleges

The Closing Ceremony of “The Professional Competency Enhancement Program for University Teachers” (PCEPT) under HEC NAHE Phase II – a project of Learning Innovation Division, was held on Monday May 6, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD).

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Government College University, Lahore, was the Chief Guest of this ceremony. Ms. Noor Amna Malik, Director General Learning Innovation Division of HEC, Islamabad was the Guest of Honor.
