The selected candidates, on the basis of Entry Test and Interview, are admitted provisionally. The Verification Committee confirms admission after the verification of educational and other required documents.
  1. Students are required to get their registration number at the beginning of first academic year after payment of dues from Registrar’s office.
  2. Students are allocated registration number section wise before the commencement of classes. Registration numbers and section once allocated are not changed.
  3. If (at any stage after the admission) it comes to the knowledge of the authorities that the documents presented by the applicant are fake or there is a misstatement or clerical error in the document, his/ her admission will be cancelled.
  4. Provisional admission may be granted to the result awaiting students. PIFD reserves the right to cancel admission of such students who fail to provide result intimation and Equivalence Certificate issued by IBCC within given time in the undertaking furnished at the time of payment of dues.
  5. Student enrolled at PIFD in undergraduate program is not allowed to be enrolled in any other program in any other University at the same time. If such situation arises, the registration of student will be cancelled or he/she will be expelled.
  6. Migration from any HEC recognized Institution/University may be allowed after successful completion of Foundation Year Studies only on the following grounds.

    1. Transfer of Parents
    2. Shifting of residence of parents
    3. Any other un-avoidable circumstances
    4. Availability of vacant seat
    5. Grades/GPA acceptable to the Department Concerned
    6. Intermediate or equivalent marks should be 550
  • Admission on Merit: All the admissions of eligible applicants shall be made on open interse-merit determined on the basis of entry test and interview
  • Foreign Seats: Four Seats are reserved for foreign students for Bachelor Degree Program. They will be selected on inter-se-merit and shall pay additional fee as fixed by the Federal Government for foreign students per annum along with normal fee for year I, II, III, IV (Semester-wise) separately.
  • The institute shall admit students in Four-Year Degree programs according to the schedule advertised in the leading national newspapers, and on the website of the institute.
  • The Institute shall not accept any admission form after the due date fixed for the purpose.

  • Intermediate/A-Level with 50% (550/1100) marks.
  • Students awaiting results are also eligible for provisional admission.
  • F.A/F.Sc. students should attach the attested copy of Part-I Result Card and Part-II Roll No. Slip of their respective Boards.
  • A-Level with (Minimum 3 main subjects, no subsidiary) and O-Level with 8 subjects including five compulsory subjects are required.
  • O-Level students are required to submit Equivalence certificates issued by IBCC along with ALevel Result intimation of at least two main subjects with the form.
  • Result awaiting A-Level students should attach their Statement of Entry.
  • Applicants will have to appear in compulsory pre-admission Aptitude Test (Entry Test) followed by an interview.
  • Merit List will be prepared on the basis of Entry Test and Interview and be displayed for studying in 1st semester of Foundation Year

The total fee of one semester may be divided into three installments for student’s convenience in exceptional cases.
The students have the ultimate responsibility for arranging Institute fees/dues. The Institute may require a declaration or affidavit from the students and their guardians/parents or sponsors guaranteeing payment before confirming admission or at any time during the course.
Fee must be paid within the time mentioned on challan form. Late fee fine shall be charged at Rs. 100/- per day subject to maximum of Rs. 5000/- per each semester separately. Students who fail to pay their fee in the stipulated time will not be allowed to sit in the classes after due date and will not be allowed to appear in their mid-term and final-term examinations. Such students may be asked to re-register themselves to enroll at PIFD after payment of registration fee as prescribed.
Refund of Fee Policy
PIFD has implemented the National Level Fee Refund Policy at Higher Education Institutions of Pakistan circulated by Higher Education Commission, vide letter No. 10-1/HEC/A&C/2012/94 dated 11th September, 2012 for registered students and also adopted revised policy of HEC vide letter No.10- 1/HEC/A&C/2015/6542 dated Dec 7, 2015.

  • %age of Fee shall be applicable on all components of fee, except for security and admission charges.
  • Timeline shall be calculated continuously, covering both weekdays and weekend.
From 16th day of commencement of classes, if a student at any stage intends to quit his/her studies, he/she may apply for refund of security fee only.
The students who apply for refund of fee due to cancellation of admission or otherwise before the commencement of classes may get the full refund as per receipt.
It is mandatory for the candidates to pay full fee of the first Semester within due date as financial assistance is not provided in the first Semester.
Students and their families may experience financial difficulties. Therefore, it is crucial that expenditure over the academic year is planned in advance. It is our endeavor to provide access to the quality education. Hence the Institute has a limited range of bursaries to support those students who come from lower income families.
The Institute grants financial assistance on the basis of demonstrated financial need, from 2nd semester onwards to deserving students. There are no academic, athletic or merit-based awards. “Financial Assistance” will be for one semester and this fee waiver/concession is applicable only on the tuition fee. A student will pay all other payments and fines in whole and no exemption will be granted. Financial Assistance Half Tuition Fee is granted on kinship basis to the younger real brother or sister.
How to Apply
Students are required to submit an application when announced. The application form must be properly filled and attached with the required documents such as income, expenditure and tax return etc. The financial assistance forms are available at the Course Coordinator’s Office of each department. Due date for the submission of financial assistance application is notified on notice boards. Late submissions are not entertained.
Application Review
Financial assistance cases are reviewed by a committee duly constituted. Based upon the information submitted in the application, the committee assesses the “survival need” of the student. Incomplete applications are refused.
Funding from Other Sources
There are a number of external sources of funding (grants and loans), which students may access. In such cases, the Institute will assist in any way it can; full information is only available directly from the sources concerned. The student’s eligibility is a matter between the student and the concerned source.
Financial Assistance Disbursement
Financial Assistance is automatically adjusted by the PIFD accounts office against tuition fee if the applications is approved. No amount is disbursed directly to the student.
HEC Need Based Scholarship:
Higher Education Commission aims to elevate the socio-economic position of needy & deserving students by providing access to quality education through needs-based scholarships. Government of Pakistan has also duly acknowledged the financial constraints barring students from acquiring higher education and has thus earmarked substantial funds for improvement of education sector.
  • To provide an opportunity for talented students who are financially disadvantaged and are incapable of meeting higher education costs at partner institutions /universities in all disciplines.
  • To provide opportunities for academically qualified, yet financially needy, Pakistani students to continue university studies in selected partner universities of Pakistan, especially from remote and rural areas of Pakistan (FATA, KPK, Southern Punjab, Balochistan, and Northern Sindh).
Eligibility Criteria
  • Financial assistance & scholarships are available for study at Undergraduate and Graduate level in all disciplines at HEC selected public sector Pakistani universities and degree awarding institutions.
  • Students need to compete for securing admission at the participating institution as per admission policy of the institution and be enrolled in Undergraduate (4 years) or 2 years MA/MSc programs.
  • The eligibility of a candidate is linked to his/her financial needs as assessed by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee. The financial background of the family of the applicant will be kept in view in this regard.
  • The number of Graduate and Undergraduate slots will be decided by the universities but weightage will be given to Undergraduate slots.
  • Funding for Graduate and Undergraduate slots will continue for the complete duration of the program. In case any students drop out, they will be replaced by other candidates on the waiting list.
  • All disciplines will be kept open. The selected university will decide whether to include or exclude any discipline keeping in view its grant, program cost, and number of allocated slots, etc.
  • In the case of Medicine, Pharm-D and other five year programs, funding will be made available for the complete program.
  • Considering the allocated grant, the university may adjust the total number of scholarships to an extent in order to cover the tuition fees.
  • In addition to the tuition fee, every grantee will be paid Rs. 6000 stipend per month for the complete program.
The complete application should be sent to relevant Financial Aid Offices where the applicant intends to secure admission.
Punjab Education Endowment Funds (PEEF)
Punjab Education Endowment Funds (PEEF) has awarded 10 scholarships to meritorious and deserving students for the graduation degree course every year for Foundation Year Studies Students.
The Fund will be offered to the students meeting the following criteria:-
  • Students must have domicile of the Punjab Province
  • Students must have secured at least 60% marks (first division) in their Intermediate Annual Examination and must have enrolled in the Undergraduate Level Design Education Professional degree program in the same year as they have passed such Examination from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Punjab or the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.
  • Students must have passed the above mentioned examination from;
    a. A government institution (students of Federal Government Institutions situated within geographical boundaries of Punjab are eligible)
    b. A private affiliated institution
    c. As a private candidate.
  • The annual household Parent’s income of each of the student must not be more than Rs. 360,000/- (Rupees Three Hundred & Sixty Thousand Only).
  • The student must also qualify under the criteria for award of financial aid prescribed by the institution
Student Identity Card
The Student Identity Card is the student’s passport to the Institute premises. The students must wear it in the classes, the library, studios, workshops and computer room; it provides proof of enrolment at the Institute. Students are required to keep it handy and show it on demand. In case of loss, a duplicate card may be provided on payment of prescribed fee.
The Student Identity Card is valid for four year academic session and must be returned to the Course Coordinator on completion of the session or completion of the course to enable the refund of library and Institute security deposits.
Dress Code
All the students must adhere to the ‘Dress Code’ within the Institute. Failure to comply may result in the imposition of certain fine or direction to leave the PIFD premises.
Dress Code for female students is mentioned below:
  • Knee length Kameez /short or long sleeve,Shalwar and Dopata /Scarf.
  • Trousers/Jeans/Pants with knee length Shirt/short or long sleeve and Dopata/Scarf.
  • Girls are not allowed to wear sleeveless dresses, fitted t-shirts, caprie, short tops.
Male students must be in presentable dress. Short trousers, night suits and slippers are not allowed.

Eligibility Criteria

1.  Sixteen years of schooling or a 4 year undergraduate degree/s from an HEC accredited university or equivalent, after HSSC/ F.A./ F.Sc/ Grade 12 equivalent will be required for
eligibility to apply. The undergraduate degree should preferably be in Art, Design or related fields (e.g. Art History, Media Studies, Social Anthropology, Visual Culture, Cultural Studies, Performing Arts, or Education. The candidate should have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (in semester system)/ equivalent grades in the last degree (as per HEC guidelines for admission to MPhil.)

2.  Minimum 2 years of teaching experience is preferable (can be in P-12 schools and/or higher education/ informal education sector/ industrial/ other education sector), but
professional experience of applicants without teaching experience will also be considered if they demonstrate a strong inclination towards educational development.

 Admission Procedure

1. Complete the Admission Application packet and submit by hand or by post to the Registrar’s office along with a fee of Rs. 1,500 by the last date for application submission (October 7, 2017). The hard copies of the Admission form and Program Brochure can be obtained from the Office of the Registrar, and their electronic version can be downloaded online (see tabs above). [Candidates applying through downloaded forms will submit their applications along with the cash / proof of online payments of Rs. 1,700/- in A/c # 22167900286001 (HBL, Johar Town, Branch, Lahore.)]

All items in the application packet should be tallied with the Admission Application Checklist provided in the application form and below.

2.  Appear for a mandatory Admission Entry Test at PIFD on October 10, 2017.*

3.  Appear for a mandatory Interview at PIFD, if shortlisted, on October 14, 2017.

 *Applicants who have already taken the GAT- General / GRE conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) and have obtained a minimum 50% cumulative score will be exempt from the Admission Entry Test. Please note that these scores are valid for a period of two years only. However, such applicants must provide proof of original result with valid dates in the Admission Application packet in order to be considered for admission review.

 1.   Secondary School Certificate or O-Level Result with Equivalence Certificate from IBCC.

2.   Intermediate or A-Level Result with Equivalence Certificate from IBCC.

4.   Bachelor Degree/s, diplomas and Transcripts from an HEC accredited university or equivalent. (In the case of a foreign degree please also submit an Equivalence Certificate issued by HEC)

6.   CNIC/ Pages 1-5 of Passport for Foreign Students.

7.  Four attested Passport size colored photographs in light background.

8.  Admission Application Fee: Rs. 1,500/- cash to be submitted to accounts office and slip to be attached with the form or  Rs. 1,700/- Bank Draft in the name of Pakistan Institution of Fashion
and Design, Lahore.

1.   Statement of Purpose (1 page)

2.   Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)

3.   Experience Letters relating to previous teaching jobs.

4.   Attested copy of GAT / GRE test result, if applicable (Originals will be required for inspection at the time of interview)

5.  A Portfolio consisting of 20 JPEG images which should include 10 of the applicant’s own art or design work + 10 of applicant’s students’ work (Size of images: A4 digital size, no larger than 150 DPI, i.e. 1240 x 1754 pixels) to be sent with the admission application on a CD / DVD / USB Stick

6.  Applicants with a non-Visual Arts or Design background should submit a writing sample, sample lesson plans, course outlines or curriculum document.
